If you have a chronic condition lasting 6+ months, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates:
| Funding Type | Details |
|---|---|
| NDIS | Physiotherapy is an approved NDIS support. Bring your plan details to your consultation. |
| DVA (Dept of Veterans' Affairs) | DVA Gold and White Card holders may be eligible for covered physiotherapy services. |
| Private health insurance | Many extras policies cover telehealth physiotherapy. Check with your fund before booking. |
Note: Medicare rebates and private health insurance cannot be used for the same session.
Your physio will take a detailed history of your symptoms - when they started, what makes them better or worse, and how they affect your daily activities. They will ask you to demonstrate your range of motion and observe your posture and movement on camera.
You will receive a clear explanation of what is likely contributing to your pain or movement difficulty, based on your assessment findings.
If your physio believes you need in-person treatment, specialist review, imaging (X-ray or MRI), or a CDM referral from a GP, they will guide you through the next steps clearly.
Eligible patients with a chronic condition can access up to 5 Medicare-subsidised allied health sessions per year. A GP referral is required. Prime Medic GPs can prepare your CDM referral via telehealth.
If physiotherapy is included in your NDIS plan under Improved Daily Living or Improved Health and Wellbeing, you can use your NDIS funding. Please bring your NDIS plan number and support coordinator details to your appointment.
DVA Gold Card holders are entitled to physiotherapy services for clinically necessary treatment. DVA White Card holders may also be eligible for approved conditions. Please advise us at the time of booking that you hold a DVA card.
Many private health extras policies cover physiotherapy, including telehealth consultations. Check with your fund before booking to confirm your level of cover and any session limits.
