Your consultation typically runs 30-45 minutes. After the session, you will receive a written summary of your assessment, your recommended exercise program, and any referral letters or medical certificates required for your ongoing care.

Medicare-rebated sessions
(CDM Plan)

If you have a chronic condition lasting 6+ months, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates:

  • Up to 10 individual psychology sessions per calendar year
  • Your GP prepares a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) referral
  • Up to 5 rebated allied health sessions per calendar year (shared across all allied health)
  • Current Medicare rebate: approximately $60 per physio session
  • Prime Medic GPs can assess CDM eligibility and issue your referral via telehealth

Other funding options

NDIS Physiotherapy is an approved NDIS support. Bring your plan details to your consultation.
DVA (Dept of Veterans' Affairs) DVA Gold and White Card holders may be eligible for covered physiotherapy services.
Private health insurance Many extras policies cover telehealth physiotherapy. Check with your fund before booking.

What to Expect in Your Session

Assessment

Your physio will take a detailed history of your symptoms - when they started, what makes them better or worse, and how they affect your daily activities. They will ask you to demonstrate your range of motion and observe your posture and movement on camera.

Diagnosis and explanation

You will receive a clear explanation of what is likely contributing to your pain or movement difficulty, based on your assessment findings.

Your personalised treatment plan

  • A graded home exercise program with clear instructions
  • Advice on activity modification and load management
  • Posture and ergonomic recommendations
  • Self-management strategies for pain relief
  • Guidance on when to seek in-person assessment or imaging

Referrals and next steps

If your physio believes you need in-person treatment, specialist review, imaging (X-ray or MRI), or a CDM referral from a GP, they will guide you through the next steps clearly.

Funding Options Detail

Medicare (CDM Plan)

Eligible patients with a chronic condition can access up to 5 Medicare-subsidised allied health sessions per year. A GP referral is required. Prime Medic GPs can prepare your CDM referral via telehealth.

NDIS

If physiotherapy is included in your NDIS plan under Improved Daily Living or Improved Health and Wellbeing, you can use your NDIS funding. Please bring your NDIS plan number and support coordinator details to your appointment.

DVA (Department of Veterans' Affairs)

DVA Gold Card holders are entitled to physiotherapy services for clinically necessary treatment. DVA White Card holders may also be eligible for approved conditions. Please advise us at the time of booking that you hold a DVA card.

Private Health Insurance

Many private health extras policies cover physiotherapy, including telehealth consultations. Check with your fund before booking to confirm your level of cover and any session limits.
